Mini- retreats: Experience the Silent Energy
of The Meditation Center
- Rachelle Chase -
Over the past 6 months, I have had the opportunity to do a series of mini-retreats at TMC. I wanted to share with the community the benefits I have received from the time I am spending at the center and encourage anyone looking to go deeper in your own practice to consider designing your own mini-retreat and take advantage of the unique environment and resources available to all of us within the yoga community.
I have participated in extended silent retreats and each time have found myself rejuvenated, focused, and ready to move forward with renewed calmness and energy. I would love to do retreats on a regular basis, but it is not always possible for me to take time off from daily commitments to work and other duties. Sometimes I am able to stay a full day and participate in events at The Center, but often I need to leave in the morning and go into work for the day and return in the evenings.
I have found my mini-retreats allow me to gain the same benefits of an extended retreat, and continue to meet my outside commitments. In fact, I have actually found doing a series of mini-retreats over an extended period of time has actually helped me to more completely integrate my practice into my life as I do the daily transition from The Center and back to my external duties.
I have found my own spiritual practice has deepened through the participation in morning and evening prayer and meditation with the Swami’s and other members of the community. I have been able to devote time for rest, reflection, and study in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere, and can participate in the cadence of lectures, classes, events, and casual conversations that occur daily at TMC. My understanding of the Himalayan Tradition, the lineage of teachers and sages ,and my connection to TMC has developed exponentially by simply being at The Center.
Our Center and the community supporting it are an amazing treasure and I encourage all of you to consider taking advantage of this opportunity to work with the TMC staff and design your own Retreat.
